Accused Arsonist Now Facing Murder Charges In Watauga County

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — The man accused of starting a deadly fire in Watauga County is now facing murder charges.

Investigators say Benjamin Williford intentionally set a building on fire on August 12th on US Highway 194 South.

The fire killed Macie Pietrowickz and injured several others.  On August 31st, Williford was charged with first degree arson in the case.

Now, investigators have charged Williford with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one count of first degree murder.

Williford is being held without bond and will have a court hearing on October 25th.
