CMPD Make Several Arrests Related To Uptown Riots
CHARLOTTE, NC — As soon as the destructive riots that hit Uptown Charlotte last month were over, a small team of CMPD detectives went to work identifying and tracking down those responsible for the looting property damage and assaults.
The detectives with Central Division, which covers Uptown, used all the tools at their disposal, and shared information with colleagues across the city.
“What we started doing is gathering data as fast as we could. Mainly from the still pictures from the store videos, and the video from the real time crime center,” said Detective Joshua Gibson.
CMPD gathered enough information for 120 warrants.. Charging 31 people with crimes.
