Mom of Plaza Midwood Murder Victim Begging for Answers
CHARLOTTE, NC – The mother of a young woman gunned down in Plaza Midwood is begging for answers.
So far police have not named any suspects the murder of Kétie Jones.
“It’s something you never, ever imagine is ever going to happen, especially to the most alive person you know,” says Jevona Livingston.
She says Kétie had a big heart and a huge personality. Right now, she’s struggling to understand who could take that away. Kétie was shot and killed in Plaza Midwood early Saturday morning. Friends says she was walking home.
Police haven’t named any suspects.
“My daughter was not afraid of anything. Um, you know, they could have asked for a light, they might have just came up, I don’t know.. I don’t know what happened,” Livingston explains.
A memorial is still growing where it happened behind a real estate office at the Plaza and Hamorton Place.
“It was so open and so close to Central, I don’t know how it’s possible that no one saw anything,” she says.
Kétie’s mom and sister are begging anyone who knows what happened to step forward.
“Please, just help my heart rest. Let me know…let me know…let me quit wondering.. Cause my brain is on overload,” Livingston says.
Family members have also set up a gofundme page to help with final resting costs. They’re also trying to find a new home for her two dogs.
Kétie’s mom has a message for her killer.
“Kétie forgives you, whoever you are. She forgives you and she would have wanted to heal you,” she says.
Friends are putting on a benefit concert for Kétie wednesday night at snug harbor in plaza midwood. It starts at 9:30.
A memorial service will be held saturday at Kétie’s house on Hawthorne Lane. It starts at 1:00pm.
