LINCOLNTON, NC — Deputies have charged a second suspect in connection to a child that was sexually assaulted between January 2005 and December 2009.
According to officials, Beverly Sherbert, 43, has been charged with one count of Accessory After the Fact of a Felony and one misdemeanor count of Common Law Obstruction of Justice.
On September 28, 2016 Scott Sherbert, 47, was charged with two felony counts of Taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor. Those charges came after investigators interviewed Mr. Sherbert about accusations saying that he had sexually assaulted the victim when they were a child.
Detectives say Ms. Sherbert knew about the sexual assaults but did not report them. She is also accused of texting the victim and trying to encourage them to drop the charges.
Officials say the victim and suspects are all related.
