Mecklenburg County Courthouse Drills For Active Shooter Situations
CHARLOTTE, NC– The threat of violence in public places has local officials taking action.
The Mecklenburg County Courthouse is making sure all employees are prepared if an active shooter enters the building.
The courthouse closed today so employees could go through extensive training that included a live drill.
Tonight the trial court administrator says while the situation is unlikely, court officials need to be properly prepared.
“I think it’s important that employees are protected and safe at all times in the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.”
Employees were also prepped for other types of harmful situations such as severe weather, fires and various acts of violence.
