One Person Killed In Chester County After Colliding With School Bus

CHESTER, SC — Officials say one person involved in an accident with a school bus was killed Monday afternoon.

Officials with Chester County School District say bus #20 was involved in an accident today on Ashford Road at Mountain Lakes Road. There were 16 students on board at the time of the accident.

According to school officials, the driver of the bus and the students on board were not injured during the accident.

SCHP officials say the bus was heading south on Ashford Road when the driver of a 1986 Chevrolet sedan turned left off of Mountain Lakes Road onto Ashford and was hit.

Officials say the driver of that car was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
