UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers are investigating after a mother was hit and killed by a vehicle after she dropped her child off at the school bus.
Investigators say 46-year-old Hanna Gosney got her child on the bus around 6:45am and was walking across the street when she realized her child was not sitting down on the bus. Officials say the mother got in her vehicle and drove down to where the bus stopped.
The mother got out of her vehicle and was attempting to cross the street to get her child to sit down and that is when she was hit and killed by another vehicle.
The accident happened on State Line Road at Old Pageland-Marshville Road in Union County. School officials say 11 students were on the bus at the time of the accident. The children attend Union Elementary School. Grief counselors are available at the school.
