NC Corrections Sergeant Among Those Arrested For Heroin Trafficking
SALISBURY, NC — Rowan County deputies say a NC Department of Corrections-Piedmont Correctional Sergeant was among three arrested for their involvement in a heroin trafficking operation.
According to officials, 35-year-old Tasha Redmond was arrested Thursday on charges of felonious maintaining a dwelling, possession of heroin, and possession of marijuana.
Records show that Redmond has been an employee and sergeant in the NCDOC-PC for 12 years.
Officials with multiple agencies had warrants to search Redmond’s home on Vista Drive on October 20th, and say they found about one gram of suspected heroin, around 21 grams of marijuana, three handguns, ammo, $5,700 in U.S. currency, and drug paraphernalia.
Two other suspects were also taken into custody prior to the search of Redmond’s home.
Officials say Jarvis Pate, 35, was arrested after deputies found 12 grams of heroin and 21 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop on Webb Road. According to reports, Pate lived with Redmond and had a long criminal history that included four drug convictions, one voluntary manslaughter conviction, and one felony restraint conviction.
At the same time deputies were arresting Pate, officials say they were also searching 37-year-old Kimberly Guske’s home on Old Concord Road where they found three grams of meth ice, scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
Following the search of Redmond’s home, Pate was given an additional charge of conspiracy to traffic heroin by possession and Guske was charged with conspiracy to traffic heroin by possession and possession of methamphetamine.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be coming.
