Rock Hill NAACP Demand York Tech Cancel Sons Of Confederate Veterans Convention
ROCK HILL, SC– “The flag is an emblem that we don’t want to give credence to,” says Dr. Jacques Days, Rock Hill NAACP President.
Which is why Rock Hill NAACP President Doctor Jacques Days says he and the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus met with York Technical College President Greg Rutherford Monday morning.
The South Carolina Sons of Confederate Veterans booked the Baxter Hood Center for their 2017 convention.
“The Confederate flag represents a history of divisiveness racism and hatred of other persons,” says Dr. Days.
Some want the college to cancel the agreement. But a York Tech representative says breaking the contract could get the school sued.
President Rutherford met with NAACP to see how the groups can work together. Not good enough says Doctor Days.
“When they have said as one comes down many will go up it flies in the face of everything that this state has worked hard to grapple with,” says Dr. Days.
