MONROE, N.C. — Officials have identified the victim in Wednesday’s fatal accident at the intersection of US 74 and Dickerson Boulevard.
Police say 74-year-old Julianne Voit of Monroe was pronounced dead on scene after her 2002 Ford Explorer was hit by a utility truck just before 1pm Wednesday.
Jack Willis, 51, was driving the 2015 Freightliner that was pulling a utility trailer loaded with a trencher when he ran a red light and hit Voit, according to investigators. Officials say Willis has been charged misdemeanor death by vehicle and failing to stop for a red light.
