RALEIGH, N.C. — An extremely close race for the Governor in North Carolina has both candidates telling supporters different messages.
Gov. Pat McCrory told his supporters that a winner won’t be declared until November 18th due to a tight raceΒ with incumbent Roy Cooper. Β November 18th is the date that every county’s board of election has to canvass the votes and report it to the North Carolina Board of Elections.
With 99.93% of precincts reporting in North Carolina, CooperΒ is winningΒ with 48.96% of the vote compared to McCrory’s 48.88% of the vote.
Cooper told his supporters that he won the race and will be the next Governor of North Carolina.
McCrory said provisional ballots will have to be counted before a decision is made. There are 90,000 early votes that are still being counted in Durham County.
