South Polk Street And Hucks Road Bridges Finally Reopen After Months Of Construction

CHARLOTTE, NC — After several months of construction and closures, two bridges on popular Mecklenburg County roads have finally reopened to the public.

The NCDOT said Tuesday that the South Polk Bridge in Pineville and the Hucks Road bridge in north Charlotte have been opened. Officials say some finishing touches need to be done still but it will not require a closure for either bridge.

The South Polk Street bridge replacement work began back in January. The bridge received a widening for a left turn lane as well as new sidewalks on either side, which the old bridge did not have.

The Hucks Road bridge replacement work began in June and added sidewalks to both sides of the bridge.
