Mecklenburg County And City Of Charlotte Closures For Thanksgiving 2016

CHARLOTTE, NC — Officials with Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte have announced their holiday closures for Thanksgiving 2016.

According to the City’s website, all city offices will be closed on November 24th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will not provide collection services on Thanksgiving Day, according to a release. Thursday customers will receive service on Friday, Nov. 25th. Friday customers will receive service on Saturday, Nov. 26th. If you are in a town, please check with your town for refuse collection schedules.

A release from Mecklenburg County states that government offices and agencies will be closed as follows:

The Department of Social Services, Tax Office, Elections Office, Register of Deeds Office, Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) Office, and the Health Department will all be closed on Novemeber 24th and 25th.

Solid Waste administrative offices and all facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. All Solid Waste facilities, excluding administrative offices, will reopen for regular hours on Friday, Nov. 25th.

The main library and all library branches will close at 5pm on Nov. 23rd, and will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day. All library facilities will reopen on Nov. 25th.

Park and Recreation administrative offices and all facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Park and Recreation administrative offices, along with Recreation and Senior Centers, the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, the Marion Diehl Pool and Ray’s Splash Planet will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25th. Nature centers will be open normal hours on Nov. 25th.

Grayson SkatePark will operate from 10 a.m.-6 pm.. on Friday, Nov. 25th.

As a reminder, Mecklenburg County officials say The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) will still be operating their normal 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.

CATS will run on a Sunday schedule for Thanksgiving Day.
