Charlotte Armed Robbery Suspect Sentenced To Over 21 Years

CHARLOTTE, NC — A Georgia man who pleaded guilty in a string of business armed robberies throughout the Charlotte area has been sentenced to 262 months in prison.Alex Jones Mug

Officials say Alex Jones, 27, of Atlanta, Georgia, will face over 21 years in prison, plus three years of supervised released and a $6,319 restitution fee after robbing five Charlotte-area businesses at gunpoint between November 17th and 23rd of 2015.

The stores included a Boost Mobile on Central Avenue, a Fuel Mart on N. Tryon Street, a Subway on South Boulevard, Beautiful Hair Palace on Central Avenue, and iBeauty on N. Tryon. According to reports, Jones robbed each business by pointing a gun at the clerk and demanding money. In one robbery officials say Jones even threatened to kill the clerk if she did not comply.

In August 2016, Jones pleaded guilty to five counts of Hobbs Act Robbery and one count of use and carry of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Officials say all federal sentences are served without the possibility of parole.
