Four People Arrested During Uptown Protests

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  Four people were arrested during protests in uptown Charlotte following the District Attorney’s decision not to press charges against the officer who shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott.

Eleanor Everette, 16, Landon Rice, 22, James Marsicano, 23, and Ngogloan Tran, 25, were each arrested and charged with impeding traffic according to police.

“At approximately 7:00 p.m., CMPD officers encountered peaceful protesters in front of CMPD Headquarters and worked with organizers to facilitate lawful demonstrations.  The protestors began marching towards the square and stopped at 4th and Tryon, the Omni and the Transit Center. ”

CMPD says that their Civil Emergency Unit was on standby but never deployed, as the 75 to 100 protesters moved through Charlotte.
