CHARLOTTE, NC — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC has confirmed a tornado in Charlotte Wednesday night during severe weather.
According to reports, the tornado hit around 6:30pm on John Price Road and traveled over a mile and a half to the northeastern part of the Ayrsley subdivision. It then touched down again on Microsoft Way and traveled about half a mile to West Arrowwood Road.
Officials estimate the maximum wind speed at around 90mph with a width of around 100-150 yards.
