McCrory Meeting With Trump Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, NC– “If the President called I know Pat would be there,” said former City Councilman and Mayoral Candidate, Edwin Peacock.

And Donald Trump called… bringing Pat McCrory to New York for a meeting Wednesday.

“It makes sense he’s a seasoned leader he led this city well with both democratic and republican support for 14 years,” said Andy Dulin.

Newly elected State House Representative and longtime Charlotte politician Andy Dulin says rumblings of a possible FEMA appointment would fit McCrory well.  Dulin says McCrory stepped up during the recent floods and Hurricane Matthew but also as Mayor of Charlotte during the 2003 ice storm.

“The entire city shut down no communication and then all of a sudden McCrory comes busting through with leadership and pulled it the city out of that,” said Dulin.

Former Charlotte City Councilman and mayoral candidate Edwin Peacock agrees.

“That was probably one of his last actions as Mayor was when Hurricane Katrina folks came and stayed at our former Old Coliseum so Pat would be exceptional there,” said Peacock.

Outside of joining the Trump administration, Peacock says he could see McCrory working in the public-private sector.

“Pat is an educator by heart he started out at Catawba college as a teacher a lot of people don’t know that about Pat but I would look for something in education and job training,” said Peacock.

Both Dulin and Peacock agree HB2 hurt McCrory in Mecklenburg county, but neither rule him out for any future state political positions.

“No scandals he ran a clean government in Charlotte for 14 years people were civil,” said Dulin.
