RALEIGH, NC — Following his victory rally at NC State Tuesday night, Governor-elect Roy Cooper began the process of naming his first appointees to his administration Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say that Cooper has named three senior leaders to key appointments thus far.
Kristi Jones has been named Cooper’s Chief of Staff, Ken Eudy will serve as Senior Advisor to the Governor, and Brad Adcock will be Cooper’s Legislative Director, according to a release.
Jones, a Wilson native, served as Cooper’s chief of staff in the N.C. Department of Justice for the past 12 years. She also served in the administration of Gov. Jim Hunt, and will be the first African-American woman to serve as a N.C. governor’s chief of staff.
Eudy, a native of Oakboro in Stanley County, worked as a N.C. political reporter before founding Capstrat, a public relations and advertising agency he sold to Omnicom in 2012.
Adcock, a Roxboro native in Person County, is a veteran lobbyist who worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for three decades. He also served as a former chair of the board of trustees at Appalachian State University, and on the UNC Board of Governors.
Officials with Cooper’s office say other senior staff and cabinet members will be announced soon. Cooper will be sworn in on January 1st, and the inauguration will be held January 7th.
