South Carolina Prison Escapee Back In Custody
COLUMBIA, SC– Tonight, a South Carolina prison escapee who stabbed a police officer is back in custody.
Michael Williamson escaped from McCormick correctional institution in the western part of the state last night.
He traveled 75 miles to Columbia where he stabbed a police officer who confronted him in a store parking lot.
Police caught up witWilliamsonon in nearby Lexington.
The officer is okay.
Prison officials are not saying much about the escape other than they think Williamson may have gotten out of the prison in a food truck.
