MATTHEWS, NC — Following an indefinite suspension from Crestdale Middle School back in September, CMS officials now say the school’s former principal has resigned.
In a statement sent out to parents, officials say Kathleen Richert resigned her position as principal of Crestdale Middle School, and will be temporarily replaced by interim principal Pam Espinosa until a permanent replacement can be found.
“Good morning, this is Nancy Brightwell, CMS East Learning Community Superintendent. Keeping you informed of matters impacting your childβs school and education is important to us. With that in mind, I want to provide you with the information I can share regarding leadership at Crestdale Middle School. Ms. Richert has resigned from her position as principal at Crestdale. To ensure the focus remains on teaching and learning, Pam Espinosa will continue to serve as the interim principal as we begin the process for selecting a new principal. This week, I will be working with teacher leaders, the School Leadership Team, as well as representatives from the PTA to develop a principal profile. This profile will help provide us information about the leadership qualities necessary to continue the great work at Crestdale. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.”
Following Richert’s suspension, school officials would only say that it was a sensitive matter as to the reason.
No details have been released yet as to why Richert was initially suspended, and eventually resigned.
