Teen Charged In Fatal Fire
UNION CO., NC– A teen is now facing murder and arson charges after a fatal fire in Union County.
Police say 19-year-old Monica Rivera set fire to the home.
Rivera’s sister and 67-year-old Susan Smith were also living in the home.
It happened around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon on Mill Grove Road.
We’re told deputies we able to pull Rivera and her sister out of the home but were unable to reach Smith. Β She died on the way to the hospital. Rivera is now charged with first-degree murder and arson.
