CHARLOTTE, NC — Officials with Charlotte Water say repairs on a broken water main on Lancaster Highway could last through the weekend.
Officials say the repair is taking some time because a special part had to be ordered in to complete the drinking water valve repair, and once the valve is replaced crews will need to fill in and repave the affected area. The valve repair should be completed by Saturday, and paving taking place Sunday depending on the weather.
Until the repairs are complete, Charlotte Water officials say drivers will have to use the following detours:
- Northbound drivers are able to continue driving on Lancaster Hwy. Northbound turn lanes may be closed intermittently. If northbound through lanes have to be closed, Charlotte Water will email/tweet update.
- Southbound drivers will be detoured onto Carolina Place Pkwy (including Carolina Place Pkwy drivers attempting to turn left onto Lancaster Hwy). Detour directs southbound Lancaster Hwy traffic onto Carolina Place Parkway, turn left on Muskerry Drive (veer right on round about) to Dorman Road and back to Lancaster Hwy.
