CMPD Plans To Offer Transparency Workshops

CHARLOTTE, NC– Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police will start offering a series of transparency workshops to the public in January.

It’s an effort by CMPD to improve its relationship with the community.

The 3-day events will be tailored to community questions about how the department and its officers operate.

Citizens will also get the chance to experience aspects of CMPD’s training for new recruits.

“Sometimes actually being in the situation, and feeling the emotions, the anxiety and some of the challenges that we face; you leave with a different perspective,” said Capt. Rob Dance. The first transparency workshop is scheduled to start on
