Man Arrested For Robbing Bank In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C — Police say they arrested a man who attempted to rob one bank and successfully robbed another bank in the Charlotte area.

Thomas Hammond was arrested for his involvement in two bank robberies.  Police say Hammond entered the Fifth Third Bank on JM Keyenes Drive and handed an employee a note demanding money.

Hammond is accused of fleeing the scene before receiving any money.

Police say he then entered the Woodforest Bank inside Walmart on North Tryon Street and demanded money from the business.  After receiving the money, police say he fled the scene.

Surveillance pictures helped police identify the suspect.
