CMPD Identifies Victim In West Charlotte Homicide

UPDATE:  CMPD has identified the victim as, 52-year-old, Thomas Louis Beatty Jr.

CMPD will release further information as it develops.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are investigating the seventh homicide of 2017 after a man was shot and killed in west Charlotte Friday.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 4:30pm, according to officials, and found a man lying in his front yard with a gunshot wound. Medic took the victim to CMC for treatment, but he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say they believe the suspect and victim knew each other, and the shooting appears to have been drug related.
