GASTONIA, N.C. — A teenager has died and another person was taken to the hospital following a wreck in Gastonia Friday night.
Gatonia Police say, 17-year-old, Thomas Smith IV’s Ford Mustang left the roadway and struck a tree on Robinwood Road, near Laurel Lane, around 10:20 p.m.
Mr. Smith died from his injuries at the scene.
The passenger was transported to Caromount Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Police believe speed was a factor in the accident and the accident is still under investigation.
