Locals Chartering Bus to DC for Inauguration

CHARLOTTE, NC– “This will be my first trip to Washington DC and I’m so looking forward to that,” said Cramerton resident, David Masters.

Cramerton Republican David Masters started working on the Trump campaign over a year ago during the primaries.

“The day after he won, the election I started organizing the trip,” said Masters.

Masters recruited his friend Doug Rich who owns D&S Travel Tours in Gastonia, to plan the trip including taking one of their charter busses.

“It means to me that I will be there to be a part of seeing history being made”,” said Rich.

But not everyone is packing a bag for the trip – Mecklenburg Congresswoman Alma Adams says she’s not going because she sees Trump’s actions as divisive not inclusive.

“I didn’t feel I needed to pretend to celebrate that because to me it’s not where I think our country needs to go,” said Representative Adams.

A position drawing strong criticism.

“I think the Senators and Congressmen that are Democrats in Washington that are boycotting this ought to be ashamed of themselves,” said Rich.

But legislators defend their decision.

“I can’t go to this inauguration because he continues to spew hatred, bigotry and prejudice,” said Illinois Representative, Luis Gutierrez.

“The inauguration of the President is not about politics its not about a Democrat or Republican it’s about the peaceful transfer of power in this country,” said Masters.
