UPDATE: Officials identified the 28-year-old man who was shot and killed as Christopher Elkins of Chester, S.C.
YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A man is dead after being shot by a 76-year-old club owner in Rock Hill.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:00 a.m., Sunday morning deputies responded to a shooting at the Hideaway Club on Rock Hill. Upon arrival, they found a 28-year-old male victim suffering from a gun shot wound.
The victim was transported by EMS to a Charlotte area hospital where he later died.
Sheriffs say the victim was involved in an altercation with another patron, was asked to leave and escorted out by employees.
Shortly thereafter, the victim returned and attempted to re-enter the establishment, but was stopped by the club owner at the doorway. The victim proceeded to assault the owner, who produced a gun and fatally shot the victim.
