MORGANTON, NC — A Registered Sex Offender in Morganton was arrested and charged Tuesday after a 6-year-old came forward about inappropriate sexual behavior.
Officials say Mark Smith, Jr., 32, was charged with taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor after a 6-year-old victim at the Child Advocacy Center: The Gingerbread House came forward about inappropriate sexual behavior between Smith and the child. Some of the behaviors described in a report included Smith exposing himself to the child and forcing the child to sit on his lap.
Deputies, along with DSS officials, say they confirmed the allegations through an investigation and arrested Smith.
Smith is currently being held under a $25,000 secured bond.
