Two Arrested After Breaking Into A Handicapped Man’s Home, Holding Him At Gunpoint

CONCORD, NC — Two suspects have been arrested, one charged, after police say they broke into a handicapped man’s home and held the owner at gunpoint.

According to police, Nijel Hitchcock, 16, has been charged with one count each of Felony Assault on a Handicapped Person and First Degree Burglary. Officials say Hitchcock and another jevenile suspect broke into the man’s home on Sumner Avenue around 10pm Saturday, forced him out of his wheelchair to the ground, and held him at gunpoint while ransacking his home.

Police say they arrested Hitchcock and the juvenile suspect, and then charged Hitchcock after an investigation. A secure custody order was obtained for the juvenile, according to police.
