CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have arrested an 18-year-old for his involvement in a robbery and kidnapping in north Charlotte.
Rashawn Coleman was arrested after police say he and one other suspect went into a Metro PCS in The Plaza on Friday and forced the female employee to hand over money and products.
On Tuesday police located a vehicle matching the one used by the suspects on Reagan Drive and identified Coleman as the driver. Police say Coleman also matched the description of the suspect caught on surveillance at the store.
According to officials, officers immediately saw a handgun and smelled marijuana when they approached the vehicle. Coleman attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. Police say a search of the vehicle found 2 handguns, marijuana, multiple packaged cell phones with Metro PCS labels.
Coleman is charged with Common Law Robbery, Conspiracy, Possession of Marijuana, Resist Arrest, and second degree Kidnapping.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
