Five Suspects Face Over 100 Felony Charges After Multiple Vehicle Break-Ins

UNION COUNTY, NC — Deputies say five suspects, all from Charlotte, are facing more than 100 felony charges after a series of car break-ins near Waxhaw.

According to reports, Cara Whichard, 18, Dela May, 17, Rayshun Hill, 20, Justice Styron, 18, and Kevin Taylor 20, were all arrested after they allegedly broke into vehicles and stole multiple items in the Briarcrest neighborhood. Whichard, according to deputies, was the getaway driver for the four other suspects. Once she was arrested, deputies say the other suspects found an unlocked vehicle with keys inside and then fled back to Charlotte.

Investigators say they later found the stolen vehicle outside one of their homes, and the remaining suspects were arrested.

Each suspect faces 19 counts of Breaking/Entering Motor Vehicle, one count of Felony Larceny, seven counts Misdemeanor Larceny, one count Larceny of a Firearm, and one count Breaking and Entering a Residence. Officials say each suspect, except Whichard, also face an additional charge of Motor Vehicle Theft.
