UPDATE: CMPD has charged a suspect in the 2014 murder of Anthony Byers in northwest Charlotte.
Following an investigation, officials say Ajenee Forte, 24, was named as the primary suspect in the case. Forte was located in Federal custody at the US Penitentiary-Big Sandy in Inez, Kentucky, according to detectives.
Detectives say Forte will be charged with Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery once he is released from Federal custody.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Anthony Byers, 38, died after what police believe to be a drug related shooting on the 2100 block of Lincoln Heights Court Sunday just after 10 p.m.
Officers responded to a call for assault with a deadly weapon where they found Byers inside suffering from a gunshot wound. Byers was taken to CMC where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives believe that Byers may have known the shooter and evidence suggests that drugs were involved.
The shooting is still under investigation.
