Deputies say two Lincoln County detention officers were injured after being assaulted by a prisoner on Wednesday.
According to reports, Samantha Jeanette Ruiz, 26, of Lincolnton, pushed a detention officer to the floor. Β Ruiz went on to Β scratch, bite, and break the officers glasses. Β A second officer intervened, and Ruiz kicked the officer in the face, busting her lip.
After Ruiz was controlled, the officers were treated for their injuries by Lincoln County EMS.
Ruiz has been charged with two counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer , one count of Injury to Personal Property, and is being held without bond.
Ruiz was originally charged with second degree Trespassing and Resisting Arrest for an incident at the Hessed House of Hope in Lincolnton.
