Speedway Motorsports executive Marcus Smith tweeted that he’s moving forward with a plan to bring Major League Soccer to Charlotte, even without the city on board. Last week, Mecklenburg County Commissioners approved the plan to build a $175 million stadium, but city council said the proposal felt “too rushed.”
