Law Enforcement Training Exercises Will Take Place Beginning Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, NC — Multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will participate in training exercises in south Charlotte starting February 1st.

Officials say the training will take place February 1-3, between 8am and 5pm, at the Carmel on Providence Apartment Complex at the intersection of Providence and Fairview Roads. Officials are warning residents in and around that area not to be alarmed if they see a very heavy law enforcement presence during those times.

The training will involve multiple agencies from the federal, state, and local levels. Officials say the agencies will take part in a variety of scenarios that will include the use of multiple marked and unmarked vehicles, a heavy uniformed and non-uniformed presence, and loud noises.

The majority of the exercises will take place inside the apartments, which has been offered by Levine Properties for law enforcement training use, according to a release. The complex is abandoned and set to be demolished, which makes it an ideal location to perform these exercises.

The training is not open to the public or media.
