How to make delicious and clean Dark Chocolate Brownies

CHARLOTTE, NC — From diet books to Pinterest and Instagram – clean eating is something you’ve heard of before.

It’s a perfect way to change things up a bit while staying healthy if you’re starting to slip up on your New Year’s Resolutions.

Here’s a recipe for some delicious Clean Dark Chocolate Brownies.

 

Clean Dark Chocolate Brownie

Ingredients:

¾ cup whole wheat or gluten-free flour
2/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp coconut oil or unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt.

 

Frosting:

¼ cup dark chocolate chips
2 tbsp warn nonfat milk
¼ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
2 tbsp dark cocoa powder, sifted

 

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, and lightly coat an 8” square baking pan with
nonstick cooking spray.

2. To prepare the brownies, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the butter, eggs and vanilla. Add in the maple syrup and Greek yogurt. Stir until no large lumps remain. Mix in the flour mixture until
incorporated.

3. Spread the batter into a prepared pan and bake for 15-19 minutes. Cool completely to room temperature in the pan and let sit.

4. To prepare the frosting, add the chocolate chips to a microwavable-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH for 20 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 20 seconds. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

5. Add in the milk, Greek yogurt, cocoa powders and stir until smooth. Spread in top of the cooled brownies and slice into squares.
