
UPDATE: A man accused of killing his grandfather and beating his mother back in 2013 was found guilty of murder Wednesday.
After a trial that lasted more than three weeks, court officials say Jeff Steen was found guilty by a Rowan County jury for the murder of his grandfather, J.D. Furr, 87, in November 2013. A judge sentenced Steen to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A man who says he found his grandfather dead and his mother severly beaten, is behind bars and charged with the crimes.
Jeff Steen is in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond. On November 6, Steen called 911 saying he found his 87-year-old grandfather, J.D. Furr beaten to death at his home in Richfield. Steen’s mother, Sandra Steen, who also lives in the home, was badly beaten.
Sandra Steen is still in the recovery process. Jeff Steen is charged with murder, attempted murder, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is expected in court on Friday morning.
