CMPD Deputy Chief Receives Award for Outstanding Work with Cancer Society

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Deputy Chief Vicki Foster of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received an award on Monday for her outstanding work with the American Cancer Society.

Foster was given the Outstanding Volunteer Award for her service as a Road to Recovery driver. The program helps patients get to the lifesaving cancer treatments they may miss due to lack of transportation, the inability to drive due to medical conditions and age.

Through the program, volunteers such as Foster use their own vehicles to provide free rides to and from treatments.
