President Trump Vows to “Destroy” Johnson Amendment
At Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., President Trump told a group of religious leaders that he wants to end a ban on political activity by churches.Β That ban is known as the Johnson Amendment.Β It’s a provision in the U.S.Β tax code prohibiting tax-exempt charitable organizations, like houses of worship, from endorsing or opposing political candidates.
