UPDATE: Officials with the North Carolina Department of Labor have released more information on what killed a worker at an east Charlotte construction site Thursday night.
According to officials, the man was fatally struck in the head by the boom of a backhoe while working at a site on Vagabond Road.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, NC — One man is dead after being killed by a falling object at a construction site in east Charlotte.
The accident happened around 5:30pm Thursday on Vagabond Road at Beckley Place. According to officials, an object fell on the man while working at the site and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials say CMPD and The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are both investigating the accident.
