E Cig Shop Owners Charged With Trafficking Synthetic Marijuana

BESSEMER CITY, NC — Police have arrested and charged two co-owners of Johnny’s E Cigs and Shaw’s Pipe World with trafficking synthetic marijuana.

Officials say John Hawkins, III and Letha Shaw were arrested at Johnny’s E Cigs on Gastonia Highway Thursday after officials served search warrants on the two stores. Agents seized around 6,000 grams of a synthetic cannabinoid substance, multiple guns, and U.S. currency from different locations, according to reports.

Hawkins and Shaw are charged with Trafficking in Synthetic Cannabinoid by Sell,Manufacture,and Possession. Officials say both have been placed under $250,000 secured bonds.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
