SALISBURY, N.C. – A 7-year-old girl was killed in December after bullets sprayed a Salisbury home, hitting her while she slept.
Family members say A’yanna Allen died at the scene.
“Most happy and joyful little girl you’d ever want to meet. She didn’t meet no stranger,” explains her grandmother Shirley Robinson.
Robinson was asleep next to the 7-year-old when the shooting happened.
She was hit in the leg.
“All I could hear was pow, pow, pow, pow, and then later on I realized it was like a flash right there close to the window,” she says.
Outside the home on Harrel Street, you can see the bullet holes in the siding and broken glass.
As she grieves, Robinson just wants to know why.
“For what? I don’t know why they over here bothering me and her,” she says.
Robinson says A’yanna was a 2nd grader at Kootz Elementary in Salisbury.
She says whoever’s responsible must feel guilty about doing this.
“They probably sitting somewhere crying theyself… they realize they done took the life of a 7-year-old girl…,” she says.
