Rock Hill Area Law Enforcement Says Social Media Posts About A String Of Robbery/Burglaries Aren’t True

ROCK HILL, SC — Law enforcement officials say that posts being circulated on social media regarding a string of robberies/burglaries throughout the area are not accurate.

The posts being shared on Facebook and Twitter claim that there have been a string of 22 robberies throughout the areas of Newport and northwest Rock Hill. According to the posts, some of those robberies happened during the day while the owners were at home.

Officials with the Rock Hill Police Department and York County Sheriff’s Office say the posts have led to numerous calls from media outlets and concerned residents trying to verify the information.

The RHPD says they have not had any recent reports of robberies or burglaries in those areas, though most do not fall within their jurisdiction.
