ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – Two people were arrested after they led police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 85 in Rowan County Sunday morning.
Officials say an officer tried to stop the vehicle for speeding in a work zone, but the driver failed to stop.
According to police, speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour during the chase.
Officials say that the chase ended near the Spencer Exit on I-85 northbound.
The driver was identified as 40-year-old Robert Lee Pease of Simpsonville, S.C. Pease is charged with felony flee to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving, possession of stolen vehicle and speeding in a work zone.
The passenger of the vehicle, 29-year-old Brittany Owens, was also arrested on outstanding warrants from South Carolina.
Pease was treated and released from the hospital.
No officers were injured during the chase.
