CHARLOTTE, NC — A man accused of shooting two police officers and a 10-year-old girl is reportedly on suicide watch. Newly released warrants show Brandon Brewer also shot at a third officer.
Brewer was supposed to face a judge Tuesday, but that didn’t happen. He faces 21 charges including attempted first degree murder. CMPD arrested Brewer on Sunday after a SWAT standoff on Kingville Drive. Officers were responding to a 911 call about a man shooting in the neighborhood.
WCCB has obtained the 911 call in which Marguerite Jackson tells the dispatcher about her encounter with the suspect:
“She was like ‘Ma’am can I please use your phone because he got a gun and he threatened to shoot me and my daughter,'” said Jackson. “He shoot it towards my direction, towards, like, her. I don’t know, he just aimed it and shot.”
Pellets hit officers Kevin Stafford and Eric Bojaj as well as 10-year-old Shanise Laney. All three are okay. Brewer remains in jail Tuesday night on $850,000 bond. He has a bond hearing August 28.
