CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCCB Charlotte’s sub-channel, Antenna TV, will broadcast 24 Charlotte Independence soccer games.
All 24 Saturday evening Independence home and away games throughout the 2017 season will be aired on Antenna TV.
As the Independence enter their third season, the deal represents the first time that Independence games will be broadcast on local television.
The home opener against rival Charleston Battery is the first game to be telecast and will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 7pm.
“With the recent ascension of the USL to Division 2 in the US Soccer pyramid and the return of our core players from last year’s playoff team, the expectations for our team and league have never been higher.” said Michael Behrman, Chief Operating Officer of the Independence. “Local TV coverage plus our move to the Sportsplex at Matthews will greatly increase the presence of Charlotte’s pro soccer team and we are pleased to grow our product for our supporters and sponsors.”
“Everyone at WCCB is very excited to partner with the Charlotte Independence and the USL. We look forward to serving our market in bringing professional soccer to television in 2017.” said Jim White, VP/General Manager of WCCB-TV and the Antenna network.
All 24 Saturday matches will be shown by the local providers and dates provided below.
In addition, all Independence home and away matches will continue to be shown on YouTube via the USLsoccer.com Official Match Center and Charlotte Independence website.
