UPDATE: Police Identify Hit And Run Suspect Charged With Hitting Two Officers

UPDATE: CMPD has identified the man charged with hitting two officers with a vehicle Sunday morning.

Police say Jerel Manvil Rhoades, 37, has been charged with two counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer Causing Serious Injury, two counts of Felony Hit and Run, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Driving While Impaired, Reckless Driving, and Hit and Run.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two officers received minor injuries and one suspect is in custody, following a hit and run incident early Sunday morning.

Reports indicate on Sunday February 26, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Alcohol Law Enforcement officers were investigating a car for possible contraband in a parking lot located at N. Caldwell and Sixth Street.

CMPD says during the course of the investigation, one individual got into the vehicle and drove away, hitting a CMPD and ALE officer.

According to officers, at least one ALE officer fired his weapon, as the suspect fled the scene.

Both officers were transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.  There were no the injuries.

Police say one suspect is in custody.

ALE and SBI are conducting an investigation regarding the officer involved shooting.
