CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say an accident in east Charlotte Tuesday left one person dead and two others seriously injured.

According to reports, Kasey Vance, 18, was riding in the backseat of a 2010 Honda Civic when the car slid off of East W.T. Harris Boulevard around 1:45am, hit several trees, and landed on its side. Medic pronounced Vance dead on the scene. Officials say the driver, Kristin Bradley, 22, and a front passenger, Michelle Morales, 20, were transported with serious injuries.

Investigators say the three were believed to have been involved in a shooting on Arklow Road where a victim received a non-life threatening injury. According to reports, the victim’s father followed them when they fled the scene.

Investigators say Bradley was speeding when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Detectives are also trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
