Motorcycle Driver Dies From Injuries Sustained In Friday Collision

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A motorcycle driver succumbed to his injuries following a serious crash from Friday afternoon in northeast Charlotte.

CMPD says thatΒ Tyrell St. Thomas, 31, died on Saturday due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.

PoliceΒ say St. Thomas was traveling north on the 11900 block of DeArmon Road at a high rate of speed when the driver of a 2004 Mitsubishi SUV turned in front of him.

Officers say they found St. Thomas lying in bushes several feet from the road when they arrived on scene at 3:18 p.m.

St. Thomas was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV has been released from the hospitalΒ with non-life threatening injuries.

CMPD says that the driver of the SUV was trying to turn left onto Mineral Ridge Way.

St. Thomas was wearing a helmet during the collision.

Officials say alcohol isn’t a factor.
